Temporary voice channels on Discord

The Koster bot gives every member of your Discord server a voice room of their own. They join the “➕│создать канал” channel, and the bot creates a room and moves them into it. The owner changes the name and limit, locks the room and decides who gets in, with a panel in the room’s chat or /voice commands. Once everyone leaves, the room deletes itself.

How it works

  1. Add the bot to your server

The invite link already asks for the permissions voice rooms need.

  2. Create a join channel

Type /voice-hub create and pick a category. You can set a limit and a room name template.

  3. Done

Members join the join channel, and rooms appear and disappear on their own.

What it does

  • A room of your own in one step

Join the join channel and you are in your own room. No creating channels by hand or asking an admin.

  • A panel in the room’s chat

The bot posts a menu in the room’s chat: rename, change the limit, lock, unlock, let in, keep out, hand over.

  • The owner decides who gets in

A locked room keeps new members out, except those the owner lets in. The bot disconnects an unwanted guest.

  • Settings carry over

The owner’s name, limit and access carry over to their next room in the same category.

  • Ownership is never lost

If the owner leaves while others stay, the next member becomes the owner.

  • A tidy server

Empty rooms are deleted. The bot never touches channels it didn’t create. You can have several join channels in different categories.

FAQ

What are temporary voice channels on Discord?

Voice rooms that are created when a member joins a special join channel and deleted once nobody is left. Everyone gets their own room, and the channel list isn’t cluttered with empty voice channels.

How do I set up temporary voice channels on my server?

Add the Koster bot to your server, type /voice-hub create and pick a category. A “➕│создать канал” channel appears there, and anyone who joins it gets their own room.

What permissions does the bot need?

In the room category: View Channels, Connect, Send Messages, Embed Links, Manage Channels, Manage Roles and Move Members. The invite link asks for them up front, and if any are missing, the bot says so in reply to /voice-hub create.

How do I lock my voice room?

Pick “Закрыть комнату” (lock the room) in the panel in the room’s chat or type /voice lock. To let a specific person into a locked room, use /voice permit.

What happens if the owner leaves the room?

If others are still in the room, the next member becomes the owner. If nobody is left, the room is deleted.

Do I need a Koster account?

Not for voice rooms: adding the bot to your server is enough. The Koster dashboard is for posts, announcements and stream tools.

Which language does the bot speak?

Russian for now: the panel, replies and the default channel names are in Russian. The commands work the same on any server.

How much does it cost?

It’s free during the open beta.
